Johnson Recreation Ice Rink

2782 River Rd Fork, Killington, VT 05751 | (802) 422-2711

Opened in late 2022, this 50-by-90-foot outdoor ice skating rink is located at the Johnson Recreation Center tennis courts and is open to the public from 9 AM to 9 PM every day.

Born out of one person’s desire to bring a community rink to Killington, Arra Derderian proposed the project, which quickly gathered steam among other residents. The Killington Fire Department used an estimated 20,000 gallons of water to fill the rink, and a team of volunteers assist in resurfacing and shoveling around the area throughout the season.

Now in its third year, locals say the ice is the best they’ve ever seen it.

Stop by and watch Double Diamonds hockey practice on Mondays from 6:30 – 7:30 PM, or enjoy free skating every day of the week. Helmets are required and some skates are available to rent.

Giorgetti Arena

2 Oak Street Ext., Rutland, VT 05701 | 802-775-7976

Just 25 minutes from Killington, the Giorgetti Arena is an indoor community facility that operates from November through February.

The Spartan Arena

100 Diamond Run Mall Place Rutland, VT 05701 | (802) 775-3100

Home to Vermont State University’s men’s and women’s hockey programs, this recently renovated arena is open to visitors and offers public skating with $5 rentals. Since this arena hosts several sports events, finding an open public skating time may be difficult, but that doesn’t mean there’s not plenty to see here!

Stop by and catch a game or watch the Rutland Figure Skating Club practice their jumps. You may even find a pick-up game you can join while you’re there!

Union Arena Community Center

80 Amsden Way Woodstock, VT | (802) 457-2500

This year-round ice skating rink is about 28 minutes southeast of Killington, down US-4 W. As one of the most picturesque towns in Vermont, it’s well worth the visit whether you’re planning on going ice skating or not.

Established in 2003, the arena offers a variety of programs that are perfect for every skill level and age.

Public skating is open to all, and while the schedule is subject to change, it typically occurs on Wednesdays from 2 – 3:40 PM and Sundays from 11 AM – 12:10 PM. Admission is $8 for adults ages 13 and up, $6 for kids ages 4-12, and $5 for seniors 60+. Kids 3 and under skate for free, and skate rentals are $7.

If you’re interested in learning how to figure skate, the arena skating club provides lessons on Tuesdays from 5:30 – 6:30 PM, and Wednesdays from 3:50 – 5:20 PM. Walk-in sessions are also available for $35 per person.
